Paper warehouse receipts can be issued twice, and a lender finds the gap only when a store is inspected.

The record

Each receipt is tied to a weighed deposit and a stock count. A receipt cannot be pledged once it is released.

  1. 1. DepositGrain is weighed at the gate and graded.
  2. 2. ReceiptAn electronic receipt is issued for the weighed tonnage.
  3. 3. PledgeThe receipt is pledged to a lender and marked held.
  4. 4. ReleaseThe grain is withdrawn and the receipt is closed.
